JC Wan currently works at EP Energy as a Geophysical Advisor. He has 24 years oil industry experience and worked in various aspects of the E&P businesses. His exploration and development experiences cover both international and domestic areas, onshore and offshore. He is currently working in the Wolfcamp asset team, which focuses on the unconventional oil play in Permian Basin, USA. His skill sets include seismic interpretation, rock physics and advanced Petrel earth modeling (STOIIP and rock mechanical properties).
JC graduated from Nanjing University in 1984 with a BS in Physics, and got his PhD in Condensed Matter Physics in May 1991. He joined Shell Oil Company in May 1991 and worked in its Bellaire Research Center for six years, focusing on rock physics, AVO techniques, amplitude interpretation, seismic processing and signal enhancement. He joined Hess in 1997 as its Geophysical manager. He joined C&C Reservoirs in 2001 then returned to Hess in 2003 as a Geophysical Advisor. He joined El Paso Corporation in 1997 and has been working there ever since.
JC is actively engaged in Houston Chinese Communities. He served as the President of Sino-Professional Association twice (1995 and 2000). Since 2002, he has actively involved in CAPA and served as its President in 2008 and Chairman in 2010. JC has many hobbies, including tennis and golf.
