July 19, 2008, Houston: CAPA and BP successfully conducted a Career Development Forum at BP's Westlake facility. About 150 people attended this event, including 30+ graduate students from Rice, Princeton, USC, UT Austin, Stanford, etc. Eight experienced panelists provided insightful thoughts on how to build a successful career through (a) effective communication skills and people's skill; (b) setting attainable goals and milestones; (c) knocking down cultural barriers; (d) broadening technical and business knowledge; and (e) being adaptive and proactive in our industry. During the Q/A sessions, a great spectrum of questions from the audience were raised and discussed. After the meeting, BP expressed interest to host a similar forum for 2009.
